I follow a lot of soap blogs. One because I love to read about everyone else's addiction, and two, I like to
obsess admire all the unique creations I see. But as hard as I try not to compare what I do to others, I do! I know beauty and creativity is subjective, but I can't help but think that my stuff is not good enough sometimes. For instance, I'll look at a soap made by someone else-same scent and ingredients (almost) as mine-and I'm like "How the hell did they do that!?" They have these incredible swirls, chunks, curls, or spirals embedded in their soaps, and I get insanely jealous-seriously! It's like grade school all over again.
But then, I look back at all my wonderful customers who have since become what I consider friends, and read the feedback and blog reviews, and I'm brought back to reality. I must be doing something right. Right?

I think your soaps are fab! We all have our own unique twist on what we do and we are all at different levels of fabulous-ness. :) You should see some of my stuff a couple of years ago....
As a relative newbie to soap crafting, all I can say is "huh"? Not good enough, what! When I grow up I hope my soapies are half as good and creatively inspired as yours, Miss P :)
You're soaps are always fabulous with AMAZING colors and creativity! And don't feel bad...I'm totally addicted to soapy blogs too =)
Ohh Patrice your soaps are just amazing. All the colours, the different shapes, the smells, and the textures. You don't have anything to worry about. I on the other hand need some serious help. Every time I finish using your soap in the shower omgosh I can't help but go and peek in your store and drool.
=X Julia
the customers keep coming back that says it all right? :)
You certainly are doing something right! Besides, swirlies and crap just does not make me think of you. Your soaps? The way they look? That makes me think of you. Don't cater to the masses....be the one who remains constant. Let your business be it's own entity. Why would you want to look like everyone else, anyway? If you did, there would go the originality! Besides...no one else has cool names and jingles for their soaps like you do. Just keep doing what you are doing...you Really ARe doing something right!
Thank you everyone! Like a kid in grade school, I need that positive reinforcement, lol. Now that I'm pumped up, it's time to make some soap!
Believe me Patrice, you are not the only one feeling this way! I am in teams with some of the most amazing beaders I have ever seen in my life and I wonder what the heck I'm doing there, but as you said, we must be doing something right if we keep getting great feedback and loyal customers! Keep up the great work!!
Ha! I WISH I had your sales and views :0) Your work is awesome Patrice!!
Thanks Anna and Kia:)
Kia,
You'll get there. Trust me. You're on my daily stalking list, lol!
Great! My comment on 5/21's post makes sense.
I love the soaps I have from your store. I could smell them as soon as I opened the package. I think my mom stole them when she was here for mom's day because I can't find them. I guess she thinks giving birth to me puts me in her debt. lol.
I've seen your soaps in several indie shopping sites and they're beautiful.
Simplicity is beautiful. Don't think you have to do a lot of fancy tricks with your soaps.
Are you kidding? I practically salivate when looking at your stuff! Your goodies rock! Like the other poster wrote, I only hope I can get to your level someday - that would be a worthy goal!
sorry, but I just saw this post and agree with everyone above! And I also know how you feel and I think most do too. ;)
PS
You're soaps are lovely and fabulous
