Hello Blog! It's Me, Patrice!

Because I want my image burned in your brain.........

Yeah, so I’ve been slacking really badly lately, and according to blog etiquette, you’re not supposed to apologize for not posting consistently or whatever, but you know what? Screw that. This is my blog, and if I want to explain why I haven’t been blogging on the regular, then I will…ya know? As I was saying, I’ve been slacking really badly lately-no blogging, no soap making, no EntreCard dropping, no tweeting, shut down my FB page…I am in such a FUNK! I have lost my motivation somewhat because I’m really torn about whether I want to continue to do this-make soap and stuff. I never thought in a million years I’d say those words, but now, I’m really starting to question it. I used to be so passionate about doing this, but now, not so much. The main reason is I’m not happy with the direction of The Soap Seduction. I want to change the name and the product line entirely. I want to go completely crunchy or at least as organic as possible. That would mean no more synthetic fragrance oils or the use of oxides as coloring. That would also mean discontinuing practically my entire product line and starting fresh-which would be a tremendous financial undertaking. So, I’m mulling over things-very carefully and seriously. I do have a following, and I don’t want to isolate those folks, but I’m also getting an increasing demand for more “natural” products. We know how badly that term is misused in the beauty industry so if I decide to push forward with this concept, I must do it right! So as I continue to toil and ponder, I’ll be a little non-existent. I hope you stick around. I’m still blog stalking even though I may not comment, but I’m here!

guess it is time for some soul searching :)

Why not slowly add more natural products as you phase out the current line. That way you are not scrapping all of your current inventory ($$$$ down the drain) while you introducce your new product and refine your recipies.

I agree with Anonymous. It's sort of what I've been doing. Soaping through my inventory. Haven't bought a new fragrance oil in almost a year now, and part of me is really dying to buy something new...but I'm holding out!

Patrice -

Hey...I thought that was you I saw the other day peeking around the same corner I am sitting on! I Know exactly what you are experiencing...I am there myself. I am contemplating getting back to school to finish my doctorate and really don't want to drop my business, but who knows what is around the corner? I feel as lost as you do right now :(

Hi Friends!

Thank you all for your input and words of wisdom. I've been using existing supplies forever (or at least it seems). I am taking everything in trying to decide what to do. Why is this stressing me? My Proactive even stopped working LOL!

Welcome new readers. I still have a few new soaps to post so look out for that. I have a new natural one I'm working on too:)

Hi Patrice,
I think what you are going through is totally normal because we are constantly growing and changing. I think if you just start to try new things something will come to you. I'm sure whatever it is it will be awesome. You truly see your passion come through in your blog and soap!
Good luck

Sounds like you are going through a soul searching time. We changed our name this past June as we wanted to go in a new direction. In fact we changed almost all our labelling becasue we wanted something cleaner looking. It's all about the customer and you have to cater to customers in order to have a business. I too am thinking of possibly going to only EO's in my line down the road but will continue to use up my FO's and then decide from there. Someone at our market started off organic 9 years ago and then couldn't make a go of it due to prices. She then started using FO's etc. Organic and natural does seem to be trend especially now though.

Whatever you come up with I'm sure it will be great.

Hello, Patrice. I'm visiting from Entrecard. I read this post, and I think that you should do what you want to do. Why wait? I agree with Anonymous, too, in regard to slowing phasing out the products you have now, replacing them with new things you want to offer. Your plan for yourself is perfectly do-able, I say go for it full force sooner than later. Remember, the only one holding you back is YOU (and possibly money :))

This is a difficult decision, one I am trying to make too, because there are some soap fragrances that just can't be replicated with EOs. I try to use just natural products, but then you come across some really amazing soap you want to make. I also hear that unscented soaps just don't sell well. So fun to have found your blog!

I know exactly what you're saying. Doing it all at the same time can feel overwhelming cause it is. But if you know its really what you want to accomplish, there's no better time but the present.
