Disaster Recovery!

So here is the re-working of that clean sheets-scented soap. I cannot get that mantra swirl right to save my life, but it turned out rather unusual-looking making it oddly appealing. I omitted the sodium lactate with this batch, and CPOP'ed this one. I haven't given up on the sodium lactate. I just need to study it a little more and make a test batch before committing to a larger one.

Have a safe and happy 4th of July! I'll be attending the R. Kelly concert tomorrow with my sis and her partner. Then Sunday, I'll be chillin' with the fam for some pre-holiday festivities. We decided on Sunday so we can all use Monday to recover. My neighborhood will be ablaze with illegal firework activity, so there'll be no need to trek down to the National Mall to watch the "official" festivities. Besides, it'll be like 500 degrees down there, and I'm already burnt to a crisp from just driving! I've got driver's arm! Put my two arms side-by-side, and you'd swear they belonged to two different people...Oh well, be safe!

Merry Christmas!!!

It's the most won-der-ful time of the year! Merry Christmas to all my friends who celebrate Christmas! I hope you spend this time with those you love and who love you back. Eat lots of good food and drink lots of good drink.

I'm looking forward to spending the day with my family getting stuffed and tanked while singing bad karaoke and talking about our best gift and the gift most likely to be re-gifted (yes, I do re-gift.) I'll be seeing you....

Happy 4th!

Today's a glorious day! Why? Because I'm alive. I'm healthy. But more importantly, I'm free to do whatever the hell I want to! I can't tell the President to go f*ck himself and not get arrested or catch a beat down for it! That's a little extreme, but you get my point. You can't do that in China or Cuba-well you could, but you'd probably never live to tell about it.

For all it's faults and shortcomings, we live in the greatest country on the planet. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else, and I've been to other countries-The UK and Zimbabwe to name a few. They're beautiful places to visit, but you know the saying.....but I wouldn't want to live there....

So, let's celebrate the indedpendence of our country and of ourselves! Have a good ole American hot dog and a beer (if you drink beer) and chillax! Here are some cool 4th of July finds courtesy of Etsy. Have a safe one. I'm going to get my eat-and my drink on today-and no I won't be driving. I'm staying overnight at the party scene! Talk to you Monday!!!!

Everybody Sing For Martin Luther King!!!

Sing, celebrate! Sing, sing, celebrate! For a king......

Today is a great day! Not just because it's a holiday, but because we are honoring a man who gave so selfishly of his time and his life for the good of all Americans. Peep this video from back in the day-'85 to be exact . See how many artists you can identify!

Merry KwanChristmakah!!!

(My sister Myia at age 2 and me at age 10 on Christmas morning)

(My sister Myia and I last Christmas-NO FAT JOKES!!!)

Yeah, I made that up, and it's lame, but I'm pressed for time and words! I want to wish everyone the merriest and safest of holidays whether you celebrate Hanukkah, Christmas, or Kwanzaa. Spend this time with friends and family and be grateful what you have instead of dwelling on what you don't. Be thankful for that crappy job because you could have easily been one of the 550,000+ who filed for unemployment benefits last month. So you live in a cramped apartment or house? Guess what? So do I, but it's mine and I don't have to stand in line just to get a hot meal or a warm bed every day. Sometimes we lose sight of our many blessings. We take so much for granted because we've been conditioned to want more STUFF or the latest and greatest. I am so happy to be employed and able to support myself. I'm so thankful that I'm healthy, and I'm able to see and hear and walk and talk. So the next time you're feeling like you have nothing, just turn on the news. There is always someone worse off than you. Count your blessings and rejoice in this glorious time of the year.

I'm off to spend some quality time with my family. I'll be back on Friday to talk about the gifts I've received. Yay!!!! I'm still like a little kid when it comes to Christmas. Peace!
