Happy New Year....Late

Happy 2012! I have been intentionally M-I-A as of late. I've been at a crossroads friends. I'm at the point in this venture where I'm like "Why am I doing this? Am I really happy?" And the answer is not really. I try not to get too personal on this blog because I want to keep it all about the soap, but I can't keep it all about the soap if I don't explain why there's no soap...

I am currently taking this wonderful webinar called How To Run Your Own Successful Bath and Body Business, and although I've been selling online for almost 4 years, I don't feel successful. One thing this course has been teaching me is I've been doing it all wrong-for 4 years! With that being said, I've got to take a (giant) step back and re-assess things. It's been a grueling 2 weeks, and I'm glad I'm doing this now while it's still early. So, with that being said, I'm focusing on the "business" side of things-getting my house in order, trying to determine if I want to go in a different direction. That includes paring down my product line and weeding out the junk all the while still cranking out some soap. I can't stop making soap. It's semi-crackish heehee...

So I leave you with a shot of the latest batch of my infamous Shitfaced. It's scented in Southern Comforts and yeah, it really smells like Southern Comforts, but it leaves a sweet little "after-taste" on your skin. The "rocks" are actually scented in Black Raspberry & Vanilla. It balances out the main scent nicely.

The Wax Woman Cometh

A few posts ago, I lamented how I frustrated I was that my pillar candles were not turning out the way I wanted. Well, I'm happy to say, that things are vastly improving. I still have issues with the bottom being un-leveled and perfecting the 2nd pour, but it's getting better. I've been combing the web for a professional leveler, and they want over $100 for a fancy plug-in hot plate. OH NO!!! One thing my mama always taught me was to be self-sufficient and creative-especially when dealing with a lack of funds. Guess what I used? An old sauce pan!!! I just put the setting on a low heat and rubbed the bottom around til it achieved a decent level. These flames are scented in Black Cherry and Red Currant and Raspberry. I love the color! The Red Currant & Raspberry will make a wonderful holiday candle-it just smells like Christmas to me!

Another quick tip: Use an old stocking to buff out fingerprints, smudges and other little imperfections.

Here she is: Honey Baby. I've gotta try hot press soap making. The curing time is killing me!

I'm In The Kitchen, But I Aint Bakin' Cookies!

What's going on? Well, a whole freakin lot with me! Since I can barely afford to fill my gas tank up and actually go somewhere other than work and the grocery store, I'm occupying my time with new projects. Where shall I begin? Let's see. My new blog is all finished, but I'm adding the finishing touches. I'm such a freakin perfectionist, it's sickening. I never get anything accomplished! I'm re-designing my website, The Soap Seduction. I have all new products in the works. I'm excited about that. I'm closing my Etsy shop, The Decadent Flame, and I'm opening a new one, The Soap Seduction. I'm losing my mind, and buying a new one. Just kidding. I'm looking forward to the nice, long Memorial Day weekend. I plan to get much of nothing done! How bout you?

Oh yeah. I forgot to mention my other blog that I started with my sister, and a few close friends. It's called Fat, Black, & Losin It. Check it out!
